Rush to the Right

As you all know, I feel that Rush Limbaugh is and will be considered in American history to be, one of the most destructive and anti-American voices of our generation. His plan basically, is to make as much money as possible by misinforming millions of people, using whatever propaganda tactics necessary to elect pro-millionaire capitalists and make sure that a hatred between Americans exists to prevent the truth or any meaningful reform to take place in our country. In other words he is a selfish, devious, hate-monger abusing his right to free speech. Just in case there was any doubt, we have two examples from the past week alone that should remind you of just how negative an influence this man has on our once great nation.

First, he took credit for disrupting the election process and giving Hillary Clinton her victory on Tuesday by directing his loyal flock to switch from the Republican party to the Democratic to cast a vote for Hillary last Tuesday. (You see it's not enough to support your own candidate - you have to muck up the process of the opposition in order to give yourself a better chance of maintaining power).

"One in ten voters say they changed party registration to vote in this year's Pennsylvania primary. Ten percent of the vote is huge. That would be five times the past high for a crossover vote with a closed primary. That's an absolutely huge number -- and once again, ladies and gentlemen, that is Operation Chaos," Rush Limbaugh

Next, Rush floated a new idea with his listeners that some might think was a veiled threat to start a riot at the Democratic Convention. (Because after all, if citizens fight each other then the Republican party is likely to win the election. Who cares about the division and long lasting scars for this nation. Rush wants his money and his politicians to protect said fortune. To hell with what the rest of the country is going through.)

"Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don't elect Democrats, ... I am not inspiring or inciting riots, I am dreaming of riots in Denver....There won't be riots at our [Republican] convention ... We don't riot. We don't burn our cars. We don't burn down our houses. We don't kill our children. We don't do half the things the American left does." - Rush Limbaugh
One of the reasons I support Barack Obama is that he rejects this type of politics which has crippled us with domestic despair for the past generation . Unfortunately, since America has been poisoned by this style of politics since at least the days of Lee Atwater and Ronald Reagan, it will be very difficult to break folks away for their long addiction to hatred. But if this country is to rebound that is exactly what we need to do - and we need to do it now.

So while many on the right and in the media want to condemn Barack Obama for his association with Rev. Wright, I ask why Republican politicians associate with Limbaugh? Why do they listen to him year after year? Why do they go on his show? Why do they not repudiate his hateful world view? It's clear to me that Limbaugh has done thousands of times more damage to this nation than Rev. Wright could ever do. Yet, he continues to get paid. I guess, the difference is that Rev. Wright fights against injustice toward the poor and disenfranchised while Limbaugh fights against restraints on the rich and powerful, who in turn make sure he is protected and compensated for his efforts. In a nutshell, my friends that is what's wrong with America!

Hillary Wins! (Too Little, Too Late)

Not that it matters all that much but Hillary Clinton did take the Pennsylvania popular vote as expected by 9.4 percentage points. However, since the Democratic Primary is race for delegates, Obama's performance Tuesday was enough, according to my most trusted TV pundit Chuck Todd, to clinch the delegate race. Not only that, Barack halved her lead in the state over the past 2 months and pretty much bankrupted her campaign. Clinton's last and only hope has been to completely destroy Obama, leaving her the last person standing. But so far she has only succeeded in destroying the Clinton legacy and tearing apart a Democratic party that was set to be more united than ever before. So while she crows and cackles today at her apparent sucess, in fact Hillary (and Bill) Clinton have only hurt themselves, their party and put the future of this nation at risk.

Pennsylvania Primary Day

Today is the long awaited Pennsylvania Primary. The latest polls show that Obama is unlikely to win the popular vote given Clinton's family connections and political machine, but he could still be seen as victorious. If Obama can somehow come within 10% of the heavily favoured Hillary Clinton, it would be seen as a huge accomplishment. Don't forget, Clinton was once up by more than 20%! If she wins by more than 10 then her (slim) reason for continuing remains. It's also important to know that for Clinton to actually make up significant ground in the delegate race she would need to win by a very big margin , even more than by the originally forecasted 20% margin.

It's The Pope at Yankee Stadium

The pope didn't drive by today but I did watch a lot of the coverage of his visit to Ground Zero and Yankee Stadium. I have to say the whole day was exciting and impressive. Pope Benedict did a very good job putting a friendly face to the Catholic Church. I think he succeeded in helping to repair the image of the Church in America. The day long festivities at Yankee Stadium were surprisingly enjoyable to watch and the Mass was good too. I was also happy when it got warm and sunny just in time after a cloudy and ominous morning.

Flag Pins

Patriotism is no more about signs or pins than religion is about reminding others how pious we think we are. No, the proof in these puddings is not the signs we wear but how we act.Wouldn't that also be a better way to judge our presidential candidates than by the jewelry they wear?

Weekend Roundup

Since I have less time and energy to blog lately .. I have been compiling a list of stories for a big weekend roundup. Sure, there's the usual bashing of things I don't like ... c'mon I use this thing to vent... but there is also some interesting and funny stuff here. Enjoy!

I read this early in the week and it interested me in so many ways. The author, Granny Doc, hypothesized that Bill Clinton is suffering from "post bypass surgery cognitive dysfunction."

QUIZ: What religion is in the news because of their practice to do this to their members ... "indoctrinate from birth to believe disobedience will lead to their damnation". Well, that doesn't really narrow anything down does it? Here's the answer.

QUIZ 2: What Radical Liberal said this? Countries that act unilaterally on the world stage undermine the authority of the United Nations and weaken the broad consensus needed to confront global problems" Answer

If you haven't seen this video of a water balloon bursting in super, duper slow motion then check it out!

The President has been rebuffed in his effort to restrict health insurance for children. I'm sure he is frustrated at the fact that his conservative dreams and schemes are once again found to be unlawful.

I forget where I first saw this but there is a website that you might want to check out. In an effort to explain the habits and habitats of a shrinking population why not take a few minutes to browse Stuff White People Like.

Hard to believe but Newt Gingrich was once believed was a genius! (Only slightly above average intelligence, Newt is like the girl with 3 teeth when all others are toothless - the Belle of the right wing Ball) Well, Newty has now used his superior intelligence to dismiss that knucklehead Ben Franklin when it comes to the quaint old concept of liberty.

It's the Pope at Yankee Stadium! That sentence alone brings a smile to my face. The reason is that way back in 1987 or '88 I got hold of a mix tape from London (was living in Tallahassee at the time) with what was called "House" music. Back then it was not very big anywhere - especially not in the States. Anyway .... House music was the first to really sample and mix various non musical audio clips over a steady beat to give us the (now) familiar Techno sound. Back then it was new, very exciting and the soundtrack to dozens of parties I threw. One song, perhaps the most memorable, contained an audio clip (from where I have no idea) that said "It's the Pope at Yankee Stadium". Whenever that song came on everyone would scream "It's the Pope at Yankee Stadium". Even when there wasn't a party, people in the know would say "It's the Pope at Yankee Stadium" to reminisce about the last party or get psyched up for the next one. There is a possibility that the Pope mobile will pass by my window Sunday morning (if he doesn't use a helicopter) ... I'll keep an eye out. If so, I'll give him a smile, a wave and scream out a line I haven't said in years and may not get the chance to ever repeat ... "It's the Pope at Yankee Stadium"

Speaking of the Pope... I guess I sort of made fun of him the other day but in all honesty, his trip in the USA has gone pretty well. I appreciate the fact that he has met with victims of abuse and with leaders of other religions. I really have no critiques at all about what he has done here so far. Heck, I even enjoyed looking at some pictures from his trip to D.C. taken by a conservative blogger that I somewhat like to somewhat hate.

Starbucks has been handing out coupons for free cups of their new Pike Place roast coffee so I got about a hundred of them. It is an improvement on their nasty old roast coffee which I wrote about here a while back. The price is right too!

Speaking of fast food places ... McDonald's is promoting their "Sweet Tea" up here which is simply a big cup of sweetened iced tea. One of the things I miss up here is the bank of fountain beverages that greets visitors to almost any convenience store in Florida. They don't have that up here and on hot days I would love to get a 99cent monster cup of something. But instead, I have to buy a $1.69 20oz bottle of it. Not the same. Even though the thought of a large, sweet tea sounds great ... I'm not waiting in a long, slow McDonald's line for it!

Happy Friday!

I didn't watch the debate the other night - I was watching the Yankees beat up on the Red Sux at The Stadium. I think it was good I missed it. From all the highlights and commentary I have seen the ABC News team of Charles Gibson and George Stephanopolis really did a poor job. I'm surprised. Typically ABC news is better than the other networks and Charles and George always seemed pretty solid to me. But Wednesday night they really dropped the ball.

A Liberal Apologizes To Talk Radio Geniuses

This is hilarious. Tim Robbins, the actor and liberal activist, has apologized to a group of (mostly conservative) broadcasters. Here is a link to the story and below is an except of his apology.

He launched into an apology to conservative talkers Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly "and Laura whatshername," noting that all had labeled him traitorous or unpatriotic for having called for more time to be given to U.N. weapons inspectors before deploying military force against Iraq.

"They said I was a dupe of left-wing appeasement ... and how right they were," Robbins quipped. "Had I known then of all the smiling faces" that now populate Iraq, "the wildfire of democracy that is spreading throughout the Middle East," he would not have spoken as he did, he said. He added that he can see now that his words were indeed "traitorous, unfounded and irresponsible, so I apologize to the talkradio geniuses."

A New Blog Post

It's been a while since I have written a blog post. It's really just a matter of being busy and tired. When I do get free time i just want to veg out and not think or write. Today is not much of an exception, but to make sure everyone out there still realizes I'm alive here goes...

My phone messed up recently erasing all my numbers, contacts and even all my pictures. Stupid Treo. If you interact with me by phone or text - I have lost your information. Please contact me and identify yourself so I can get you back into my directory.

It's the Pope at Yankee Stadium!! So many tasteless joke opportunities here ("The 81 year Old Virgin") - but I'll reluctantly pass on making many of them for today. He seems like a nice enough guy - and he's German! I was baptised as a Catholic and go to church once or twice a year at the most, but I sure am not a "Good Catholic". I respect people who are but to commit to obeying old people and old laws by an old religion with more than a little bit of shadiness in it's history is not for me. I hope everyone who goes to see him has a great time. I understand it will be a magical and wonderful experience for many.

I will be going to Yankee Stadium - but to cheer on a bunch of twetysomething whore mongers. Yup, the Red Sox will be in town Wednesday and I snagged a couple tickets. It should be fun.
(Any New York reader that wants to offer me a whole lot of $$$$ for them - send m an e mail ASAP. I can be bought).

This Barack Obama "bitterness" issue has been in the news a lot and I have a lot of thoughts about it. More than I can really write about now. In sum, I think what he was saying is basically true - people are bitter about politics and are willing to put their self interests aside if convinced (wrongly in my opinion) that certain people are threatening their religious beliefs or their right to own a gun. While working in talk radio I heard how folks would ignore everything around them - dismiss reality completely - because they were persuaded that the mean old liberals were coming to take away their God and their guns. Of course, it was just nonsense spewed by right wing operatives - but people believed it. That successful propaganda has lead directly to the election of politicians over the past generation who don't care about the working class or the long term strength of the US economy. It makes me bitter. I must say though, Hillary's response delights me! By foolishly trying to portray herself as a "regular small town person" she seems to be helping to turn the controversy around to Obama's favor. She is still up by about 10 points, however, in Pennsylvania where the primary is just 1 week away.

Hope in PA

Hillary Clinton has had a huge lead in Pennsylvania for quite a long time. Her institutionalized support is deep in the state. Obama supporters are hoping that by election day in Pennsylvania he can close her lead to 10 points or less. The people in this video however, have the real audacity of hope.

Young Obama Backers Twist Parents’ Arms

Surprising Political Endorsements By U.S. Troops

Only moments before speaking with ABC News, the troops had been listening to Vice President Dick Cheney give a rousing speech, but it didn't change their political preference. Spc. Imus Loto said he supported Obama. "It will be something different. But he's out there and he'll probably support us a lot more. That would be nice." ABCNews.com

Re-Start

It's Monday morning and I am getting ready for work. I had three days off and it was great. I did a lot of sleeping and eating and very little of anything else. While I can't say that I am looking forward to work, I will say that I am rested and maybe getting a little bored. Those are good signs. If I can "re-adjust" to the work week painlessly today, then I'm hoping the rest of the week and month will be smooth. I will be working a lot, but probably not as much as last month. I also am going to have some fun in April too. I've already seen a couple Yankee games and have tickets to games verses Boston and Detroit later this month. But for now, it's back to the routine.

Jesse Ventura

I saw Jesse Ventura last night on Larry King. Yes, he's off the wall and he way oversimplifies things but he said two things about immigration that caught my ear. (paraphrasing)

The Pilgrims didn't have visas.

Keep in mind that any fence that goes up today might, 10 years from now, be used to keep us in.

Number 1!

The Yankees played, and won, the rescheduled first game of the year last night. I was at the official opening day Monday afternoon which was pretty much a wet and cold beer party. After working 37 out of the last 40 days it looks like I will actually get a couple days off this weekend. More baseball, beer and even a little sleep is just around the corner! Yayy!
